Seattle

Jag undersöker just nu...thank God for Wikipedia -

"Portland had one of the most vibrant hardcore punk scenes in the early 1980s Pacific Northwest, rivalled only by Seattle and Vancouver. The Wipers and Poison Idea are the best known representatives of the scene, especially The Wipers, a major grunge influence. These bands played at The Met (now Dante's) and The Satyricon, and were connected with cult comedian Bill Hicks[citation needed]. Other hardcore bands in the 1980's included Poison Idea, The Wipers, Lockjaw, Final Warning, and The Rats. The 1990's led to bands such as Defiance, Resist, Detestation, and Tragedy. Another important Portland cult classic were the Exploding Hearts in the early 2000's, while Dead Moon developed a cult worldwide following with their garage-country punk, starting from the early 90's." (Wikipedia)

"In 1993, underground cult band Sun City Girls relocated to Seattle from Arizona, bringing with them influences of world music and psychedelic and experimental rock. Sun City Girls member Alan Bishop co-founded the record label Sublime Frequencies, which focuses exclusively on "acquiring and exposing obscure sights and sounds from modern and traditional urban and rural frontiers", especially from the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia; this brought a new awareness of world music traditions to the Seattle music scene[15]. More local experimental groups formed, such as Climax Golden Twins and Kinski, and the scene attracted established groups such as Estradasphere. Local recording engineer and musician Randall Dunn has brought more psychedelic, drone, and world-music inspired groups to Seattle to record at Aleph Studios in West Seattle, such as Six Organs of Admittance, Sunn O))), Earth, and Secret Chiefs 3, members of which are based in Seattle. Dunn also performs in Seattle-based supergroup Master Musicians of Bukkake" (Wikipedia)

"During the 1980s and early 1990s, the Bay Area was home to one of the largest and most influential thrash metal scenes in the world, containing acts like Exodus, Death Angel, Vio-lence, Megadeth, Forbidden, Testament and Metallica (although Metallica had initially formed in Los Angeles, it wasn't until their relocation to El Cerrito in 1983 that Cliff Burton and Kirk Hammett joined as bassist and lead guitarist, sealing the band's first, formative line-up). Many death metal bands had also formed in the area, including Possessed (considered one of the first in the genre), and in the 90's, bands Impaled, Exhumed and Vile."

Jaha Thrash!
